Meet Our Staff

Eric Silverstein, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Silverstein received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina.

He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and became a fellow of the American Board of OB/Gyn in 1978.

In 1983, Dr. Silverstein was one of the founding physicians of the first assisted reproduction program in Dallas-Ft. Worth, and in 1985 had one of the first successful IVF pregnancies in the area. After 21 years in Dallas, Dr. Silverstein relocated to Colorado Springs where he specializes in infertility, advanced reproduction, and in-vitro fertilization.

 

Natalie Ballweber, PA-C, Physician Assistant

Natalie is a Colorado Springs native and received her undergraduate degree in 1992 from Colorado State University in Sports Medicine. In 1993 she began her post-graduate work at the University of Colorado School of Medicine – PA Program. Upon graduation she passed the national board examination with honors and returned to Colorado Springs to practice.

Natalie has an exceptional ability to work with pediatric and adolescent gynecology issues, yet enjoys all aspects of family medicine and women’s health. Natalie was chosen as Colorado’s PA of the year in 1999, and has been with the Fertility Center of Colorado for more than 5 years.

 

Michael Wilson, PhD, HCLD, Laboratory Director

Michael received his Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from Texas A & M University. Dr. Wilson is a Board Certified High Complexity Laboratory Director and a Certified Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Wilson is also Scientific Director of the Reproductive Resource Center of Greater Kansas City laboratories since 1994.

Dr. Wilson began his career in reproduction in the animal industry as a professor at Texas A & M University, and was a pioneer of ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) in horses. Dr. Wilson has authored numerous scientific papers and is often an invited speaker at fertility related conferences.

 

Shannon Kirkpatrick, MS, TS, ELD, Laboratory Supervisor

Shannon received dual Bachelor’s degrees from Texas A & M University in Biomedical Science and Animal Science in 1992. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Embryology & Andrology from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Shannon has over 12 years experience in human reproduction and is board certified (ABB) as a Technical Supervisor in embryology and andrology, and as an Embryology Lab Director.

Shannon has been with Dr. Silverstein at the Fertility Center of Colorado for over 8 years. She has been instrumental in our laboratory’s success in acheiving consistently high pregnancy rates with blastocyst stage embryos and single embryo transfers.
